Flags will fly at half-staff in Missouri on Friday

ST. LOUIS – Gov. Mike Parson ordered for flags to be flown at half-staff on Friday at all government buildings in St. Louis and all sheriffs’ offices in Missouri.

Flags will fly at half-staff in honor of fallen St. Louis City Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dennis Boyd, 50, who died from a medical emergency on September 25.


St. Louis Sheriff’s Deputy dies from medical issue

“Deputy Sheriff Boyd was a 20-year veteran of the St. Louis City Sheriff’s Office, known for his dependability and for almost never missing a day of work,” Parson said in a news release. “Reliable, dedicated public servants like Deputy Boyd keep our justice system operating and are the reason Missourians can have confidence in justice being served.”

Boyd was part of the St. Louis Sheriff Department’s first class of Post-Certified Trained Deputies in 2022. Boyd’s funeral service will be held at the Central Baptist Church at 2842 Washington Blvd. on Friday from 10 a.m. till noon.
