Flemington man dead after striking deer with motorcycle

HICKORY COUNTY, Mo. – A Flemington man is dead after striking a deer while traveling on a highway Tuesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the collision occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Highway 83, 1 mile north of Elkton, involving a Honda Shadow motorcycle.

The driver, Clarence Garver, 65, was traveling northbound on Highway 83 when he struck a deer and traveled off the right side of the road, ejecting from the motorcycle. Garver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garver was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, MSHP says.
