ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating after a man was found shot at an abandoned train and bus depot along the Mississippi Riverfront, just north of Downtown St. Louis.

According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson, officers responded to a call for a shooting in the 1500 block of North 1st Street around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Near North Riverfront neighborhood.

A woman directed police to an abandoned building at Cass Avenue and N. 1st, where they located the 33-year-old victim.

Police said the man was in pain and requested EMS. He was taken to a local hospital and said to be in stable condition.

Police said the victim refused to provide any information to investigators.

According to authorities, several people were living in tents inside the abandoned depot. Some of those individuals told officers they didn’t see or hear any gunshots prior to the victim entering the building and saying he’d been shot. As a result, it’s unclear where the shooting happened.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the SLMPD’s Central Patrol Division at 314-444-2500. Those who wish to remain anonymous or are interested in a cash reward can call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
