ST. LOUIS – Two people are in custody following a weekend shooting on North Grand Boulevard in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, officers responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of N. Grand just after 6 p.m. on Sept. 28.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, told officers he was driving north on N. Grand when he got into a crash with a silver SUV. Both vehicles pulled over after the crash, and the 19-year-old got out of his car to approach the SUV.
Police said the victim went to the passenger side of the SUV when a man in the passenger seat pulled out a gun and shot the 19-year-old in the upper body.

The victim was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Police used real time crime cameras to locate the suspect’s SUV. Around 9:45 p.m., officers pulled the SUV over in the 4000 block of St. Louis Avenue in the Greater Ville neighborhood.
Police took the passenger, 57-year-old Charles G. Singleton, and the 46-year-old female driver into custody. Investigators said the woman was in possession of suspected narcotics. Officers discovered a gun near the front passenger seat.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Singleton with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Singleton has a prior conviction in 1999 for knowingly burning or exploding in St. Louis Circuit Court. He served a suspended sentence, less than 30 days in jail, and probation.
