ST. LOUIS – Music fans in St. Louis braved the aftermath of Hurricane Helene to attend a delayed concert featuring legends Billy Joel and Sting. Heavy rain forced Friday’s originally scheduled show to be postponed until Sunday night.

Despite soggy conditions on the field, fans filled the stadium, relieved that the show had finally gone on. The atmosphere was electric as attendees of all ages shared stories and cherished memories.

Busch Stadium came alive with classic hits and memorable performances.

“My very first concert was Billy Joel, actually; 1986,” said Sandra, who attended with her daughter, Rachel. The two have a family tradition of concert-going, creating new memories as they sing along together. “She’s the one that exposed me to this kind of music, so we’ll be belting it out as loud as we can,” Rachel said.

The evening wasn’t just for families—it was a chance for old friends like Lisa Fratcke and Judy Hawkins to make the best of the postponed event.

“I didn’t want to go without [my husband] … so I brought Lisa, and here I am!” Judy said, excited to be 26 rows from the stage.

As Hurricane Helene shifted plans, it couldn’t dampen the spirit of the crowd. Giana and Steve Hacker, father-daughter duo, summed it up best: “That’s what people in the Midwest do—you come down, have a good time, and if there’s a concert going on, it’s that much better.”

Billy Joel and Sting will continue their tour in other cities, but for St. Louis, the two-day delay was worth it—a night of legendary music that won’t be forgotten.
