Washington man killed after train strikes vehicle

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A Washington, Mo. man was left dead after his vehicle was struck by a train in Berger Thursday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the fatal crash happened at 9 p.m. on Highway B at Country Road 304, involving a Chevrolet Colorado and a train.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Edward Ocheskey, 51, was traveling northbound on Route B when he made a left turn onto the train tracks and got stuck, MSHP says. Officials say the train struck the rear of the Chevrolet, and Ocheskey was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to MSHP, the crossbar, lights, and bell indicating a train was coming were active and working at the time of the crash.

The man inside the train did not suffer any injuries.
