ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis Metropolitan Police officers are investigating after a 26-year-old man showed up to a hospital with a gunshot injury.

The man told the officers that he was driving somewhere in south St. Louis when he heard shots and realized he had been hit.

He then went to a QuikTrip where a security guard gave him a bandage.

Officers say they spoke with the guard and he said he offered to call police or an ambulance. The man refused and left for the hospital in another car.

The car the man drove to QuikTrip in was still in the parking lot and has been processed by evidence technicians.

Police say the exact location of the shooting is still unknown.
