ST. LOUIS – Hot air balloons swarm the skies of St. Louis as Saturday marks the return of the Great Forest Park Balloon Race.

Dozens of hot air balloon enthusiasts participate in the festivities at Forest Park each year, which consist of a “Balloon Glow” on Friday and the big race on Saturday.

Balloons could land just about anywhere in St. Louis City or the St. Louis metropolitan area. Many took off around 4 p.m. and some stayed in the air through the 6 p.m. hour.

The race is a hare-and-hound style race, so the winners will ultimately be in the balloon that comes closest to an original target.

Along with all things balloons, people were able to enjoy some live music and delicious food.
