ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — An employee at a St. Peters business faces charges of theft and fraud for allegedly misusing company credit cards. Tina Wagner is accused of making over $32,000 in unauthorized personal purchases and payments to her husband’s construction business between September 2023 and January 2024.

The fraud came to light in January when company officials reported suspicious credit card activity. One of the purchases was for saltwater fish, even though her company has a freshwater tank. Court documents note that Wagner’s scheme included inflated invoices for construction work and a tool chest delivered to her son’s home.

Investigators uncovered attempts to conceal the fraud, including possible $1,000 kickbacks to another employee, and refunds that started after Wagner learned of an internal company investigation. She initially claimed some purchases were accidental but later admitted to intentionally overpricing invoices, according to police statements.
