CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – Big changes are coming to Chesterfield.

Gateway Studios is currently under construction, but they are gearing up for a massive expansion with new amenities.

The 300,000-square-foot studio space is dedicated to live music tours, TV, film, and corporate events. In addition to the studio space, Gateway Studios plans to develop a sprawling 290-acre property nearby, featuring a contemporary lodge, a scenic lake, trails, and a community garden.

“I believe they’re supposed to be a 168-room luxury hotel adjacent to their studio. They have also acquired sufficient anchorage on the north side of the highway,” Chesterfield Mayor Bob Nation said.

The city planner also added, “This project includes a three-story, mixed-use building with retail, a restaurant, and offices, all designed to complement the natural beauty of Chesterfield’s landscape.”

“The most talented performers in the world will be coming to rehearse and produce their stage shows. They will be here several months at a time,” City Administrator Michael Geisel noted.

After facing a delay and switching contractors to A.J. Brown Inc., Gateway Studios is back on track, with completion expected by the end of the year.

“My understanding is that they expect to have at least one studio open this fall,” Geisel said.

Several citizens were unfamiliar with Gateway Studios, but some are looking forward to it.

“Honestly, I don’t feel like there’s much to do in Chesterfield. So, I think it would be nice to have an event center and like do some events and have a nature walk,” resident Rosalie Mahan said.

The proposal includes a path connecting to the Monarch-Chesterfield Levee, offering views of the nearby Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge.
