ST. LOUIS – Crews were dressed in hazmat suits for a possible ammonia leak just north of downtown St. Louis.

The incident occurred at the Imo’s production facility on 17th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.

Fox 2’s Nissan Rogue Runner Brian Howe was on the scene and said firefighters closed Martin Luther King Drive between 14th and 18th streets.

First responders suited up and went inside to try to find the source. They then came out to this spot to be decontaminated.

Authorities say they have found the valve and scrubbing procedures in place for firefighters.

Authorities are checking out apartments and lofts nearby the production facility. They have received calls from people in the area that can smell the odor.

Officials are asking everyone to shelter in place and that odor levels are currently going down.

There are currently no reports of injuries or anyone being made sick by the leak.

This is a developing story; Fox 2 will provide updates once more information comes into the newsroom.
