Plane makes emergency landing on I-64 near Mount Vernon

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. – An airplane crashed on Interstate 64 in Mount Vernon on Friday morning.

Illinois State Police responded to the crash around 8:20 a.m. on westbound I-64, near mile marker 80.

ISP reports that the aircraft went through mechanical issues and was forced to land on I-64. Upon landing, the plane struck a guardrail.

At this time, no injuries have been reported. The type of plane is currently unknown as well.
