EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – Interstate 55 southbound is closed in East St. Louis after a fatal accident occurred Wednesday afternoon.
Just after 12:15 p.m., the Illinois State Police arrived at the scene on southbound I-55, just north of Illinois Route 3.
The crash involved a motorcyclist and a truck tractor semi-trailer, police stated. The motorcycle driver has been pronounced dead.
The interstate will remain closed as police investigate the scene.
