70-year-old man charged for assaulting victim with cane: Police

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A 70-year-old St. Louis man was charged Tuesday for severely injuring a man using his cane after an argument.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department probable cause statement, Patrick Johnson assaulted the victim on August 15 at the victim’s home.

Police said the victim was found face down on his porch as blood surrounded him and splattered the walls and ceilings. The victim suffered a skull fracture and a traumatic brain injury.

According to police, Johnson’s cane was broken into two pieces and had blood on it. The victim identified Johnson as the person who beat him with a “stick-like” object following the argument.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Johnson with first-degree assault or attempt and armed criminal action. Johnson is being held without bond.
