ST. LOUIS COUTY, Mo. – A Wellston, Missouri, man with prior felony convictions was arrested at his home last week after police discovered he was hiding 12 pounds of marijuana in his house, as well as a firearm.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the incident happened on August 29 in the 6300 block of Wellsmar Avenue.
Police said they went to the home with a search warrant for a shooting investigation.
Michael L. Griffin (age not provided) was home at the time of the search. Police said they found copious amounts of marijuana in the living room and in a bedroom. Officers also recovered a .45 caliber Stoeger Cougar 8045F pistol in Griffin’s closet.
At the time of his arrest, Griffin was already on parole for first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Griffin with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. Griffin was jailed on a $100,000 cash-only bond. He’s due in court on September 3.
