ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis woman appeared in court Wednesday afternoon for a weekend shooting near O’Fallon Park that gravely injured one man.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened just before 8:45 p.m. in the 4400 block of West Florissant Avenue, which separates the O’Fallon and Penrose neighborhoods.
Police said Tenicse R. Waters, 32, was visiting her sister’s home during a get-together. Other people were at the home.
At one point, Waters got into an argument with others at the residence after she was accused of taking money. Waters allegedly stormed out of the home with her sister following her. One of the men at the residence stood by the front door.
Waters and her sister kept arguing, police said, at which point Waters took out a gun and fired a shot in her sister’s direction. The bullet missed Waters’ sister and struck the man who was standing at the front door.
The bullet struck the man in his neck and he was rushed to the hospital with a life-threatening wound to his carotid artery, police said. Investigators believe the man is unlikely to survive.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Waters with first-degree assault, first-degree domestic assault, and two counts of armed criminal action. Waters’ next scheduled court appearance is on August 29.
