ST. LOUIS – Summer is nearing its end, but the heat seems to be sticking around, leading to many extracurriculars being canceled. With the high temperatures, St. Louis residents are gathering in and around the refreshing waters of local parks.

One resident near Fox Park shared with FOX 2 how she and her son like to spend hot days.

“I bring water bottles…we sometimes have popsicles and just sit underneath the shade to collect the breeze,” she shared.

The Muckerman Fountain and the Pop Jets at Tower Grove Park are open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. through Oct. 31. Some of the water spouts were shut off Monday due to the high temperatures being considered unsafe, according to park officials.

The fountain is still flowing as children danced around it Monday. Tower Grove Park not only offers a large splash pad, but also picnic areas, shaded spaces, and water fountains, making it safer for families to spend the entire day outdoors.

Over 100 parks around St. Louis tout grand water features that are available for public use. The convenience and quality of these splash pad fountains are significant draws for local families after school and on the weekends, providing a hassle-free option for cooling off and socializing.

CityGarden Sculpture Park provides citizens with its artistic landscape and colorful fountains, offering a unique blend of culture and recreation and also making it a crowd favorite during the day.
