Police searching for suspect of carjacking, kidnap

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an incident that forced a Carondelet man to drive downtown at gunpoint before giving up his car.

According to police, the 34-year-old victim was arriving at his residence Thursday night in the 7400 block of Sharp Ave. around 9:30 p.m. A man approached his vehicle and announced a robbery while pointing a gun at the victim.

The victim was ordered to drive downtown until they approached the 1500 block of Lafayette Ave., when the suspect told the man to exit the car. The suspect then entered the driver’s seat and fled the scene.

Officers are searching for a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The victim was not injured in the incident.
