Man shot after ramming St. Francois County deputy

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. – A deputy with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department shot and wounded a man Wednesday afternoon following a brief car chase.

According to Sgt. Bradley Germann, a Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman, the pursuit started just before 2:20 p.m. near Old Orchard Road. A deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver refused to yield and sped off.

The deputy reported that the suspect had rammed their patrol vehicle. The highway patrol said shots were fired and the suspect was struck.

Law enforcement administered first aid until EMS arrived to transport the suspect to the hospital.

No other injuries were reported, Germann said.

Upon completion of the highway patrol’s investigation, the matter will go to the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges.
