ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Housing Authority was recently awarded nearly $100,000 in federal grant money to increase access to affordable housing for homeless veterans in the region.

The federal government distributed $20 million to 245 public housing agencies across the United States through the Department of Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH).

HUD-VASH combines housing voucher rental assistance with VA case management and supportive services.

The St. Louis Housing Authority (SLHA) was awarded $97,372 to improve landlord recruitment efforts, housing search assistance, assist veterans with security deposits, and provide incentives and retention payments.

Veterans in need of housing assistance through the voucher program can contact the St. Louis VASH Program Support Office at 314-652-4100 (ext. 55481).
