Guns seized during attempted traffic stop in St. Louis; two teens arrested

ST. LOUIS – Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday afternoon after they allegedly attempted to avoid a traffic stop in a vehicle with several guns.

Police recovered four guns, including three semi-automatic pistols and an AR pistol, along with several extended magazines, amid the investigation. One of the pistols was equipped with a “sear switch,” which could potentially make the weapon fully automatic.

According to a crime summary report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers attempted to stop the vehicle near South Broadway and Steins Street in the Patch neighborhood. As officers approached the car, three people ran from it.

The driver and one passenger, both who were 16 years old, were arrested and later taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. Police have not disclosed if the third person who ran from the car was arrested.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is handling the investigation.
