ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Republican primary race for Missouri governor is certainly one of the more tightly contested races on Tuesday’s ballot.

Candidates Jay Ashcroft, Bill Eigel and Mike Kehoe were using the last day before voters hit the polls to send out their final message.

Eigel and Kehoe did so in St. Charles County, while Jay Ashcroft finished off his campaign in Springfield.

“Traditionally, St. Charles County is obviously very important to Republican primaries,” Mike Kehoe told FOX 2 Monday. “We spend a lot of time up here.”

Eigel greeted his supporters at the St. Charles Republican headquarters.

“I don’t think it’s going to be defined by one demographic,” he said. “I think we are going to see a ground swell across the state.”

Kehoe’s rally was full of firefighters and police officers, a faction of Missouri voters he’s been endorsed by.

“Anytime you can get cops and firefighters to agree on anything, it’s a good thing, I think, for the people,” firefighter Cory Hagan said.

Several of Eigel’s supporters wore “Real Women for Eigel” t-shirts, including Sandie Hea.

“I am totally for Bill Eigel for Governor,” Hea said. “I can’t wait to see him in office make a lot of changes that we need.”

Each candidate used their final chance in front of the camera to also throw one last jab at their opponents.

“I have a record of actually moving conservative policy,” Ashcroft said. “Not just talking about it, but getting things done.”

“They don’t know how to solve problems and move Missouri forward, I do and I’m ready to go,” Kehoe explained.

“I’m very confident,” Eigel said. “We’ve got more momentum and more energy on the ground than both of those other campaigns combined.”
