ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Two people are found dead after shots rang out early Monday morning in Olivette.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. on the 9400 block of Olive Boulevard, just west of Interstate 170. St. Louis County Police had a large section of Olive completely shut down as the investigation unfolded.

Sergeant Tracy Panus with the St. Louis County Police Department says officers from the Olivette Police Department responded to a call of a shooting.

Panus says that when officers got to the scene, they heard shots being fired and they believed that they were being fired upon. That’s when the officers put out an “officer in need of aid” call.

Police from multiple agencies responded to the scene, including officers from Clayton, Shrewbury, Rock Hill and the North County Police Cooperative.

Panus says that officers found two men deceased in the area and she says there is no indication that any officers fired shots. There are also no reports of any officers being hurt.

At this point, the police have not provided any details about the two men who were found dead, including their ages or identities. There are also no details about what may have sparked the gunfire in the first place.

At the request of Olivette Police, the crimes against persons bureau from the county police is now in charge of the investigation.

This is a developing story. Fox 2 will provide more information once it comes into the newsroom.
