Franklin County man accused of stealing $10K flatbed trailer in Festus

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Franklin County man has been ordered to appear in court in six weeks amid accusations that he stole a flatbed trailer in Festus earlier this year.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office’s probable cause statement, the theft happened on the morning of February 11.

A business owner reported their 2023 black flatbed dump trailer, worth approximately $9,995, had been stolen from their lot.

Surveillance footage from the morning hours of February 11 showed a white Chevrolet Silverado towing the trailer away.

Investigators located the trailer on the night of February 13 at the home of Cody J. Schutte (age not provided). Schutte was eventually taken into custody. Deputies said he admitted to stealing the trailer.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Schutte with stealing – $750 or more. Schutte was issued a criminal summons to appear in court on September 9.
