St. Louis ranks top 10 in U.S. for job growth, new data reveals

ST. LOUIS – New data gathered from the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau reveals St. Louis has ranked among the top 10 U.S. metropolitan areas for job growth over the last year.

The data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows 31,000 workers were added over the last year, with employment rising to nearly 1.5 million. This milestone is the first for St. Louis in over three decades.


St. Louis suburb named in top 100 places to live survey

Madison County, the city’s eastern region, saw the largest spike in employment, with nearly 4,000 new people finding employment.

Industries leading the momentum across St. Louis were the leisure and hospitality industries, including an addition of 12,000 employees. The city’s tech sector has also seen a significant rise in employment.

Compared to other metropolitan areas, St. Louis ranked above other cities such as Chicago, Houston and Austin, Texas.
