ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – One person is dead and two others are hurt after a violent overnight crash in Bellefontaine Neighbors on Friday morning.
Investigators say there was a head-on crash on Route 367 between Interstate 270 and Chambers Road early Friday morning. There was significant damage to both of the vehicles involved in the wreck.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were rushed to the hospital with what were described by authorities as critical injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. Corporal Dallas Thompson, with the patrol, says the call for the crash came in just after 3 a.m. Friday morning.
Thompson says the driver of a black vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in that car was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of a maroon vehicle was also taken to the hospital.
At this point, no names or ages of those involved in the crash have been released. There are also no details on what exactly caused the crash, either.
There are no barricades or anything in the area that would prevent a vehicle from crossing the center line and continuing into oncoming traffic.
