MILWAUKEE – Andrew Bailey, campaigning for his first full term as Missouri Attorney General, joined Nexstar correspondent Chip Brewster for a one-on-one interview at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Bailey assumed the office of Missouri Attorney General in 2023 when he was appointed to replace Eric Schmitt, who won election for a Missouri U.S. Senator seat.
Bailey touched upon a variety of topics, including his recent campaign efforts and intent in filing lawsuits over New York’s prosecution of former president Donald Trump and President Joe Biden’s recent plan to provide student loan debt relief.
On the lawsuit against Trump’s proceedings, Bailey contends, “The state of New York deprived him of due process.” This lawsuit comes after Trump was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in May.
On the lawsuit over Biden’s student loan plan, Bailey contends, “This is an attempt to illegally buy votes by Biden administration.” This lawsuit comes as the Biden administration announced plans to forgive another $1.2 billion in student loans.
The Republican National Convention runs through Thursday in Milwaukee. Donald Trump is expected to accept Republican nomination in the 2024 U.S. Presidential race on Thursday after he served as the 45th U.S. President from 2017-2021.
