PHOTOS: I-64 flooded in southern Illinois amid evacuation efforts

NASHVILLE, Ill. – Some stretches of Interstate 64 in southern Illinois are closed or flooded as people attempt to evacuate Nashville, Illinois and surrounding areas amid dam failures.

The Washington County Emergency Management Agency announced Tuesday morning that flood damage was identified at the Nashville dam, located in Nashville, Illinois. EMA has advised residents located south of the Nashville City Reservoir, to evacuate their homes immediately. 

Illinois Department of Transportation reports as of noon that the I-64 mile post 52-53 eastbound and westbound are closed due to flooding.
