Fatal crash on I-64 in downtown late Saturday

ST. LOUIS – One man is dead following a crash late Saturday on eastbound Interstate 64 in downtown St. Louis.

According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened just before 11 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near the South 6th Street exit.

Investigators said a silver 2021 Chrysler Pacifica was in the exit lane when the driver attempted to change lanes and struck the impact attenuator. After hitting the attenuator, the Pacifica hit the right side of a white 2024 Kenworth Tractor-Trailer, the struck the median, and then was hit by the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Pacifica was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
