ST. LOUIS – A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Atlanta from Wyoming made an unexpected landing Saturday morning in St. Louis.
Roger Lotz, public information officer for Lambert International Airport, confirms that Delta diverted the flight to St. Louis.
FlightAware, a flight technology tracking service, reports that the flight left Jackson Hole, Wyoming around 8:05 a.m. MDT and arrived to St. Louis around 11:41 a.m. CT, though its intended destination was about an hour away in Atlanta.
According to FlightAware track log data, the flight began an unscheduled descent around 11 a.m. near northeast Missouri. In less than 10 minutes, the plan dropped from its maximum height of 41,000 feet to less than 10,000 feet.
At some point, according to FlightAware data, the flight reportedly changed its direction and landed at Lambert Airport.
According to FlightAware, the plane is expected to depart St. Louis around 4 p.m. CT Saturday and make way to its original destination in Atlanta by 6:04 p.m. ET.
FOX 2 has reached out to a media spokesperson for Delta Air Lines to confirm more information on the flight and its landing in St. Louis.
