ST. LOUIS – A Monroe County, Missouri, man appeared in federal court on Wednesday to be sentenced for traveling across state lines as a registered sex offender in order to have sex with an underage teen.

Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Joshua T. Wilson, 23, pleaded guilty in April to transporting a minor across state lines to engage in sexual activity.

Wilson met the victim when she was 16 in spring 2022. He and the teen communicated daily through online apps, exchanging sexual images and having sexual conversations.

Wilson, already a registered sex offender, met with the teen and brought her to Kansas. During the trip, he had unlawful sexual activity with the victim.

A U.S. District Court judge sentenced Wilson to a decade in federal prison.
