WARREN COUNTY, Mo. – A prisoner who escaped custody Monday night at a Warren County rest stop is now back in custody.

Authorities say Steven Woodson, 35, escaped from a rest stop off of Interstate 70 around 8:30 p.m. Monday as he was being transported from Nebraska to North Carolina.

Woodson was arrested on Wednesday, according to reports from the Warren County Record and a Facebook post from Wright City Alderman Ramiz Hakim. FOX 2 has reached out to the Wright City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies seeking to confirm the reports.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol told FOX 2 on Tuesday that Woodson was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants as he escaped. He also had multiple tattoos covering his face, arms and back.

A private transport service was taking Woodson from Douglas County, Nebraska, to the Orange County jail in Hillsboro, North Carolina.

This is a developing story. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
