More rain coming – How much can we expect?

ST. LOUIS – Two forces in the atmosphere will come together over the next few days and bring heavy rain to the region.

One of those forces: a cold front from the north, which will have rain and some storms rolling into the St. Louis area Sunday night and Monday morning.

The other atmospheric force is Beryl’s tropical spin in the Gulf of Mexico. That front will guide the storm’s path across our region and will the focus for heavy rain.

However, the exact path of that heavy rain is still a question. At the moment, two to four inches of rainfall is possible, with potentially higher amounts south of the St. Louis metropolitan area.

With area rivers already running high, any added rain will cause more widespread issues with potential flooding.
