After the Israel-Hamas war broke out nine months ago, more than a million people sought shelter in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. In May, Israel launched a ground offensive in Rafah and says it has since killed more than 900 Hamas fighters there. But the cost has been a shattered, unlivable city.
