New Department of Insurance Director discusses Pritzker’s reforms, goals for office

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (NEXSTAR) — Governor J.B. Pritzker will soon sign a long list of reforms for the health insurance industry in Illinois, and helping implement those reforms will be the new Acting Director of the Department of Insurance Ann Gillespie.

Gillespie served in the Illinois senate for five years prior to being appointed to the new role by Pritzker.

She joined Capitol Connection to discuss the new reforms, including the ban on junk insurance policies, the ban on prior authorization for mental health treatments and eliminating step therapies.
