Who serves the best bacon in Missouri? Food writers say you’ll find it in St. Louis.
A research team from LoveFood.com recently compiled a list of the “best bacon dish in every state.” Their choices were based on reviews, awards and accolades, in addition to the first-hand experience of their food-writing team.
According to LoveFood.com, Missouri’s best bacon dish is served at St. Louis staple Songbird. More specifically, the restaurant’s bacon dish known as “The Combo” takes honors.
Songbird is located at 4476 Chouteau Avenue in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood. It specializes in fresh breakfast, brunch and lunch concepts, including sandwiches and coffee.
LoveFood.com gives the following review for Songbird’s “Combo” dish:
“Songbird isn’t just a place for exceptional food; its expertise in crafting quality brews is unmatched too, so it’s also a haven for coffee aficionados. Among its culinary delights, however, is The Combo. This breakfast sandwich has garnered a dedicated fan base thanks to its irresistible combination of aged Cheddar, smoked bacon, a perfect poached egg, and a touch of honey, all nestled between toasted sourdough slices.”
Songbird carries an impressive five-star rating of 4.8 on both Google Reviews and Yelp.
According to the restaurant’s website, Songbird opened in 2020 and the restaurant prides itself on using “fresh, locally-sourced ingredients” and “produce harvested in-season.” Songbird is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day but Tuesday.
