IRON COUNTY, Mo. – Standard Industries, a global industrial company, has donated $1 million to help an Iron County school that suffered significant tornado damage last week.

The donation will help with relief and rebuilding efforts after an EF1 tornado rolled through the community last week. Peaking at 110 miles per hour, the tornado caused extensive damage to the South Iron School.

The school serves students from kindergarten to the 12th grade, and it’s considered a cornerstone in the community.

Standard Industries, the parent company of Iron County employer SGI, made the donation to help with cleanup and rebuilding.

“I’ve proudly worked for SGI for over 18 years and my roots run deep in this community that I have called home my whole life,” said SGI site manager Kyle Huff. “My wife and I chose to raise our children here because we wanted them to share in the love and values this community instills. So, it was not a surprise when I saw such an amazing outpouring of support among neighbors after the disaster. I’m grateful for the support from both SGI leadership and Standard Industries to demonstrate our commitment to Annapolis long-term and financial support to rebuild the South Iron School, which is the cornerstone of our tight-knit community.”

Standard Industries is a privately-held global industrial company operating in over 80 countries. It employs more than 20,000 with annual revenue of over $11 billion.
