Charges filed in case of intruder shot by homeowner

CASTLE POINT, Mo. – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has filed charges against the suspect in attempting to intrude a home when he was shot by the homeowner.

Andre Farrar III, 27, is facing charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted burglary, and resisting arrest with a felony.

Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, two residents inside a home in the 2200 block of Empress Dr. notified police of a burglary. According to a release, Farrar entered the home and tried to steal items by throwing them out the window when he was shot by the homeowner.

After being injured during the shooting, he ran from the scene. Police eventually arrested him near Chambers Road and Monarch Drive. It is stated in the release that a preliminary investigation shows that Farrar tried to enter another residence on Pannell Drive hours prior to the burglary on Empress.

Farrar was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is being held on a $200,000 cash-only bond.

According to police, Farrar has prior convictions for burglaries in the City of St. Louis.
