ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An accused Christmas Grinch was apprehended after using a stolen credit to have pizza delivered to his apartment.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, Jacob C. Scholtes (age not provided) entered a home in the early morning hours of Dec. 25, 2023, while the occupants were asleep.

Police claim Scholtes stole Christmas presents from under the victims’ tree and took three credit cards from a purse.

On Dec. 27, Scholtes used one of the stolen cards to have pizza delivered to his apartment. Investigators claim Scholtes’ cellphone was in the vicinity of the victims’ home at the time of the burglary.

Months later, Arnold police obtained a warrant for Scholtes’ apartment. On April 24, 2024, police searched the apartment and found one of the stolen presents, along with a small amount of wrapping paper and the shipping label still attached.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Scholtes with first-degree burglary and three counts of stealing.

Earlier this year, Scholtes was arrested and charged with breaking into the South County Mall and stealing jewelry.
