Truck backs into woman at St. Louis gas station, driver charged

ST. LOUIS – A driver faces a felony charge after backing into a woman at a St. Louis gas station overnight. Court documents hint it may have been intentional.

Prosecutors have charged Richard Dooley, 37, with one count of first-degree assault or attempted assault (causing serious physical injury).

The collision happened early Saturday in the parking lot of a Quik Trip at 2600 Chouteau Avenue.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, as an officer responded to the scene, witnesses said they saw a man backup a pick-up truck and strike a woman. The women is hospitalized and being treated for serious injuries, per court documents.

Moments later, police reviewed video footage of the reported collision. Video reviewed by police shows a driver “reversing his truck at a high rate of speed and turning towards” the victim. Dooley was identified as a suspect and taken into custody after that.

Dooley was taken into custody and will be held without bond, per Missouri court records.
