ST. LOUIS – One man is dead after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a north St. Louis home Thursday night.
The crash happened around midnight in the Walnut Park East neighborhood. Police say 36-year-old Lester White was driving the SUV when it crashed into a fence and home.
Neighbors say White will be missed.
“I seen Lester’s truck against the house and yellow tape everywhere, first thing I thought was ‘Somebody was dead,'” Gregory Cody, neighbor, said. “I just pray for the family and hope his family make it through this situation.”
Police say it appears White was speeding when he crashed. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His dog was also in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“I heard a real loud bang, I thought it was someone putting something in the dumpster, and it actually wasn’t,” Ross Collins, resident, said. “You shouldn’t speed, especially in a small residential area, because you have so many kids out here.”
There was one woman inside the residence at the time of the crash, but she was not injured.
