Missouri man drowns while attempting to rescue dog

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. – A Missouri man drowned Thursday while attempting to save a dog from Bull Creek near Branson.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that Paul Moriuchi, 76, of Walnut Shade, Missouri, died in the drowning. Next of kin has been notified.

According to an MSHP drowning report, Moriuchi noticed his dog in the water around noon on Thursday and went in to try and rescue the dog. Some point after that, he drowned.


Driver arrested after blowing past Franklin County school bus, nearly hitting children

MSHP’s report did not indicate whether or not the dog survived.

The Taney County Sheriff’s Office and Western Taney County Fire District have assisted MSHP with the investigation.
