BELLEVILLE, Ill. — A couple celebrated their love by getting married under a rare and historic solar eclipse, capturing a celestial moment that reflects their astronomical love story. Jonathan Powles and Savannah Powles began their journey together in 2017 during another solar eclipse, inspiring them to plan their wedding for the next one. The proposal took place under the Northern Lights, fulfilling a dream shared early in their relationship.

Their wedding required precise coordination to align with the eclipse’s timing. Both have backgrounds in science, with careers at Alzheimer’s research and SpaceX.
