SPRINGFIELD, Ill — The Illinois State Senate has taken decisive action by approving a bill aimed at ensuring accountability within the funeral home industry. This legislative move follows a disturbing incident at a Carlinville Funeral Home, where human remains were incorrectly handled, leading to more than 60 families receiving the wrong remains back in September.
Under the proposed legislation, mishandling human remains would be classified as a class-four felony, signaling a significant step towards stricter regulations in the industry.
