Homicide investigation underway in Bellefontaine Neighbors

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Detectives with the St. Louis County Police Department are investigating a homicide in Bellefontaine Neighbors.

According to Sgt. Tracy Panus, a county police spokeswoman, police responded to a ShotSpotter alert just before 11:30 p.m. in the 10800 block of Lilac Avenue. The officers did not find a victim but saw evidence that a shooting had occurred.

A short time later, police received word that a shooting victim had arrived at a hospital and died of his injuries. Police believe that the victim was shot on Lilac Avenue.

The victim has not been identified.

The department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons unit is handling the case.
