Home catches fire near Treetop Shopping Center in Manchester

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Big Bend Road in southwest Manchester was temporarily closed Thursday afternoon while firefighters battled a house fire near a shopping center.

According to West County Fire Chief Jeff Sadtler, the fire started around 1 p.m. in the 1000 block of Treetop Trail Drive.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames blowing across Big Bend.

The homeowner was home when the fire began but escaped. She suffered minor injuries, the chief said.

Several firefighters also had minor injuries.

The fire is under investigation, but Chief Sadtler said it does not appear to be suspicious.

By 2:30 p.m., Big Bend was once again open to traffic.
