Man accused of stealing copper pipes from home rehab sites

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An arrest warrant has been filed for a Spanish Lake man accused of sneaking into home rehab sites and stealing copper piping and other property.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the crimes occurred in February and April 2023.

Between Feb. 1 and Feb. 9, police claim Marvin E. Mabry (age not provided) snuck into a neighbor’s home on Orletto Way and ripped copper pipes from the ceiling and walls. A stove was also reported to have been stolen from the property.

Between April 10 and April 11, police claim Mabry slipped into a home in the 1200 block of Scott Avenue through a broken basement window and again took copper pipes from the walls and ceiling.

Prosecutors and police allege Mabry’s DNA was discovered at both locations. In the latter theft, Mabry left behind a baseball cap.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Mabry with two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of stealing – $750 ore more, and first-degree property damage. Upon arrest, Mabry will be jailed on a $75,000 cash-only bond.

Prosecutors said Mabry has prior convictions for second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property.
