Two-year-old injured after shooting self with deputy’s gun

ST. LOUIS – A two-year-old was injured after accidentally shooting himself, according to a St. Louis City Sheriff’s spokesperson.

The incident occurred over the weekend. An off-duty sheriff’s deputy left an unsecured firearm in a house. His two-year-old nephew got a hold of the gun and shot himself.

According to officials, the child was in critical condition but is now doing okay.

The deputy was arrested by the Ferguson Police Department.
