ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Pine Lawn man was taken into custody earlier this week for allegedly striking his partner in the face with a pistol.

According to the North County Police Cooperative’s probable cause statement, the assault took place on March 18. Police received a 911 call from a home reporting a domestic assault.

Officers arrived at the residence and spoke with the victim and her daughter.

Police claim Jeremy Brooks broke into the victim’s home and struck her in the face with a pistol. Police found swelling on the victim’s face.

The victim said she went to confront Brooks to tell him he was no longer welcome in her home. The two had been in an on-off romantic relationship. Brooks pushed past the victim and entered the home anyway.

Brooks and the victim got into an argument, culminating in him striking her with a gun. The victim’s children called 911.

Police claim Brooks fought with officers while being taken into custody and also attempted to escape the back of the police patrol vehicle. A silver Raven Arms MR-25 was recovered from the victim’s home.

Brooks has a prior conviction for assault in Missouri from 2011. He’s also wanted for a parole violation in California following convictions in 2017 and 2020.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Brooks with third-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and two counts of escape or attempted escape from custody. He remains jailed on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Brooks is due in court next week for a bond reduction hearing.
