Police: Man admits robbing phone store at knifepoint

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man is facing robbery charges after police claim he admitted to holding up a south city phone store at knifepoint.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the robbery took place on March 14 in the 4500 block of South Kingshighway Boulevard, in the Southampton neighborhood.

A store employee told officers a man came in the store, held up a knife, and stole several cellphones.


Attorney identifies victim of assault near Hazelwood East High School

Investigators were able to track one of the phones, which led them to the home of Jahlil C. Finnie, 21. Police claim the stolen phones were located in Finnie’s home. Additionally, they discovered the thief’s clothing that the store employee had described. Finnie confessed to the robbery during an interview with investigators.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Finnie with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. He remains jailed without bond.

He’s facing charges in a separate case for resisting arrest and motor vehicle tampering.
